I don't know why I feel like it's some extraordinary breach of lj-etiquette if I don't do this. Therefore...

One of my goals is to get my f-list down to a size I can manage, and filled with people whose posts I'm not skimming over. Last week, I cut all my communities, and now I'm in phase two of this, which is trimming people. I just cut 25.

Most of the folks I removed fall into one of two groups: people I have no f***-ing idea who are, and people who post exclusively about either HP types of things or fandoms I've never even heard of.

If you're one of the people who got cut and are deeply offended at not being on my f-list (even though I never comment on your journal, nor you on mine), I'm sorry. I just don't have time to read every meme and every fic update. And if you ever read my journal, you know you're not missing anything exceptional by not being privy to my work-related rants.

I don't understand how people keep up with huge flists. Mine is tiny, by LJ standards, and tends to be people who do post RL stuff, and not very frequently at that. :) I find fic through comms and reccs and generally read the LJs of people I find interesting.

Yes, I looked (of course I did!) and I'm flattered that I'm still there, though I'm not sure why. I wouldn't be offended if I wasn't - I don't post much, and it is about half fic, so if you're debating it - go ahead. I'll still keep reading your posts 'cause they're interesting to me.

(Love the green background - very restful.)

You know, I can't say that I know what you post because I can literally never *find* any posts. I usually have an f-list full of voice posts (which I don't listen to) and memes (which only screw up the tables) and jabbering about televesion shows I've never heard of. I don't think I did much good in this trim, except reducing the number of journals by 25. I put those I was going to cut on a filter, and there were a couple of them that are three-meme-a-day posters. In the last 60 posts between those journals combined, there wasn't one that I would have read.

Which isn't to say that there's anything wrong with fic and fic updates and day-by-day how my fic is going. God knows I was doing that a year ago.

And I'm not even debating cutting everyone who ever mentions Harry Potter. The fact is, that's the common thread between most of my flist, and I expect that most of the folks on it will talk HP. A good chunk of them are fic-writers.

I also had a nice contingency of SSHG fans who came by way of

I also had a nice contingency of SSHG fans who came by way of <lj-user="larilee">'s list, many of whom I've never spoken to. Some time during my snupin phase, I got a huge influx of snupiners, again, many of whom I've never spoken to. There've been a few friending memes. Etc etc etc.

Like you, I prefer to read more real life kinds of things on journals, and stuff abuto writing in general. There are folks I count as my lj friends (and you're one of them) whose lives and posts I find interesting, whether it's photos of their kids or political rants or just a flair with distress. Those are the journals I'm trying to find and to keep.

But I do post some meme from time to time, twice this weekend. However, many people told me they liked my way of livejournaling in November, because I posted various sort of posts, really controversial many times or not.
However, I also post personal stuff from time to time and made a post about that 1 week ago or so. I tend to post a lot less than in November :)

And your journal is one of the ones I read fairly consistently (even though I don't comment-- see below) There are just some people who post a lot, and all I ever do is skim, at best.

Really, I don't have a little ledger here with red marks in it every time someone posts a meme. I look to see who posted the meme that took up 97% of my f-list page, and see if they've posted anything else in the last two months.

I've been considering trimming the list for a long time, but I really can't bring myself to do it. I mean, I still read it all. I just don't always have anything to say, because my brain is so full of ME ME ME. Life is stupid, yo.

Sorry I've been so quiet, as always, but I'm very pleased to still be on your list. :)

I'm the same way. I do well to comment on 1 in 10. For instance, I've read enough of your posts lately that I'm curious about that horse with the attitude (whose name I can't remember) but you need no prompting from me to talk about it and I don't know enough about riding to ask intelligent questions or make intelligent comments anyway. So I just keep my mouth shut and read.

(and there's probably no small amount of lack of confidence tied up in it-- I have a hard time believing anyone gives a damn what I do or don't say, which isn't a pity rant, just a comment)

I'm glad you kept me :) I know I don't comment overmuch these days but I do enjoy hearing from you!

No one is on the chopping block for not commenting in my journal. Really, I'm not quite that self-centered. I just want to be able to at least delude myself into believing I know everyone on my f-list, and I can't even swallow that lie right now.

It seems like you kept me :-)
I don't post too much HP - I'm not that much into fandom, but I like the people I've met through fandom.
